Goldstone created a horrible report with fallacies about Israel's actions during the war, but they should still open their doors to him.

Supposedly, the synagogue met with the family and Judge Goldstone came to this decision along with his family. I could see why the synagogue might not honor him with an aliyah or other honor, but this strikes me as unfair treatment.Rabbi Jason Millerhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07805550465729805847noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6003330.post-53059330403897125022010-04-15T14:07:28.438-04:002010-04-15T14:07:28.438-04:00That's right R. But how sad that the grandson can't have his grandfather there. The grandson should stand up for his family.

Furthermore, let's say that he was drastically wrong in his evaluation of what happened: we trust our shuls, our Torah and our community to help tease out and provoke right thinking and action-- when we bar people from this experience, or taint it for them, because we disagree with what they say, they can only continue to believe what they believe and act as they act. They will not be enlightened by Torah, and here the Torah that is experienced while being surrounded by family. For, it is not just the words that are enlightening in religion-- it is the experience in toto that makes its mark in religious rituals. A missed opportunity....Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
