Our 9 year old grandson Simon who lives in Long Island just came back from his first experience at Camp Ramah New England- which doesn't have an Indian-sounding name- and he declared that he wants go return there next year whereas his 6 year old brother can't wait to go there himself. Our eldest granddaughter Kayla spent a few summers at Camp Tamarack and her experiences were priceless. Parashat Massei which read this Shabbat recounts in great detail our people's 40 years worth of camping experience which were crucial to their development as a people. I believe the 4 weeks a summer during their formative years are doing just that to our children. Shavua Tov! Hodesh Menahem-Av Tov.rachel kapennoreply@blogger.com
